Downtown Houston Stakeholders –

Tonight, a violent storm ripped through our community. Downtown suffered significant property damage, including downed trees, shattered windows, and more. At Mayor Whitmire’s direction, we’re encouraging all Downtown employers to allow their employees to work from home, Friday, May 17th, to allow clean up crews the opportunity to remove the debris. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Artist: Carter Ernst and Paul Kittelson

Located across from the Toyota Center in the northeast corner of Root Memorial Square Park, Heritage Lanterns add an artistic touch to the surrounding landscape. The five stainless steel sculptures are internally lit and feature various Victorian Era-styled cut-outs. The ornamental spires and tower-like structures of the lanterns are typical of the Victorian style in the 1800s. The lanterns vary in height from five to seven feet. The artists, Carter Ernst and Paul Kittelson, completed work on the lanterns in the fall of 2005.
