Tonight, a violent storm ripped through our community. Downtown suffered significant property damage, including downed trees, shattered windows, and more. At Mayor Whitmire’s direction, we’re encouraging all Downtown employers to allow their employees to work from home, Friday, May 17th, to allow clean up crews the opportunity to remove the debris. “Keep your eye on the road” is a mural about making our roads safer, inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 11 and the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety. Each year, 1.35 million people are killed on roadways around the world, which is the leading cause of death in the United States for people under age 55. The Decade of Action for Road Safety aims to prevent at least 50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.
