Downtown Houston Stakeholders –

Tonight, a violent storm ripped through our community. Downtown suffered significant property damage, including downed trees, shattered windows, and more. At Mayor Whitmire’s direction, we’re encouraging all Downtown employers to allow their employees to work from home, Friday, May 17th, to allow clean up crews the opportunity to remove the debris. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

“King of the Road” is a powerful ode to social equity, to breaking boundaries and to accessing new opportunities for all. This spectacular mural depicts, Houston, an African American boy from Houston, TX enjoying his brand new bike. The bike represents a new way to enjoy his freedom, and provides him with the capacity to go to new places beyond his usual boundaries. On the handlebar you will notice the “H”, hand sign of Houston, which is a wink from the artist, famous for his hand sign murals.
