Tonight, a violent storm ripped through our community. Downtown suffered significant property damage, including downed trees, shattered windows, and more. At Mayor Whitmire’s direction, we’re encouraging all Downtown employers to allow their employees to work from home, Friday, May 17th, to allow clean up crews the opportunity to remove the debris. Artist: Margo Sawyer

Acclaimed Texas artist Margo Sawyer's geometric work Synchronicity of Color was dedicated on April 3, 2008, in Houston's new Downtown park, Discovery Green. The two-piece architectural installment of red- and blue-themed aluminum boxes conceal concrete stairwells that lead into the Convention District parking garage beneath Discovery Green, across from the George R. Brown Convention Center. More than 1,400 aluminum boxes were used to create the vibrant work of art.
